Glazed Beef Kebabs

Glazed Beef Kebabs
Serves 4
per serving
500 g beef top sirloin, 1 lb, cut into 2.5 cm (1 inch) cubes
1 medium sweet onion, quartered, separated
8 whole fresh mushrooms
1 large BC Hot House® red or green pepper, seeded, cut into 2.5 cm (1 inch) pieces
4 long metal or wooden skewers
75 ml currant, grape or apple jelly 1/3 cup
60 ml Western Classics barbecue sauce 1/4 cup
5 ml Western Family mustard 1 tsp
  1. On 4 skewers, alternately thread beef, onion, mushrooms and peppers.
  2. In small saucepan, combine glaze ingredients; heat over medium until jelly melts, about 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Brush glaze on kebabs, saving half of the glaze for later.
  4. Grill kebabs over medium-hot coals (or broil on broiling pan in oven about 10 cm/4 inches from heat source) for 12-14 minutes or until beef reaches the desired doneness. Turn once and baste with glaze halfway through cooking.
  5. Serve over brown rice.
