175 ml Western Family soft margarine ¾ cup
250 ml packed brown sugar 1 cup
1 egg
60 ml Western Family frozen orange 1/4 cup juice concentrate, slightly thawed
60 ml Western Family dried skim milk powder 1/4 cup
250 ml Western Family all purpose flour 1 cup
60 ml wheat germ 1/4 cup
5 ml Western Family baking powder 1 tsp
4 ml salt ¾ tsp
2 ml cinnamon 1/4 tsp
375 ml Western Family oatmeal 1½ cups
125 ml raisins ½ cup
125 ml coarsely chopped walnuts ½ cup
125 ml coarsely chopped walnuts ½ cup
  1. Preheat oven to 350F (180C).
  2. In large bowl, cream together margarine, brown sugar and egg until light and fluffy; stir in orange juice concentrate.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine skim milk powder, flour, wheat germ, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir to mix. Add to creamed mixture and stir until well mixed.
  4. Add oats, raisins and nuts; mix well.
  5. Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls onto lightly greased or sprayed cookie sheets, leaving plenty of room for spreading during cooking; flatten to 3½ (8.75 cm) rounds with bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
  6. Bake 12-15 minutes; remove from oven. Let stand 2-3 minutes; lift off sheet and cool on wire rack.
