Ingredients
2 lbs white fish fillets (such as tilapia, haddock, snapper or cod)
Salt and pepper
2 tsp Western Family paprika
1/2 tsp cayenne
1 tsp Western Family garlic powder
1 tsp Western Family ground cumin
2 tbsp Western Family canola oil
4 cups loosely packed shredded cabbage
1/3 cup chopped cilantro
2 green onions, minced
1 clove garlic, minced
3 tbsp Western Family pure white vinegar
1 tsp kosher salt
2 tsp white sugar
1/3 cup sour cream
3 tbsp Western Family mayonnaise
Juice and zest of 1 lime
Salt to taste
Warmed Western Family tortillas
Directions
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Season the fish fillets on both sides with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, combine paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, and cumin. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the fish on both sides.
- Brush the grill grates with oil to prevent sticking. Place the fish fillets on the preheated grill and cook for about 3 minutes per side, or until the edges are opaque and the fish flakes easily with a fork. Transfer the cooked fish to a plate and let it rest for a few minutes.
- While the fish is resting, prepare the cabbage slaw. In a large bowl, toss together the shredded cabbage, chopped cilantro, minced green onions, minced garlic, distilled white vinegar, kosher salt, and white sugar. Mix well to combine.
- In a separate bowl, make the lime crema by whisking together the sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, lime zest, and salt to taste.
- To assemble the tacos, warm the tortillas on the grill or stovetop. Place a portion of the grilled fish on each tortilla, top with the cabbage slaw, and drizzle with the lime crema. Serve the grilled spicy fish tacos immediately and enjoy!
Note: Feel free to customize your tacos with additional toppings such as diced tomatoes, avocado slices, or hot sauce for extra flavor and heat.
